(Half-Time/0.5FTE)

(Contract up to 14/05/24)

Principal Duties:

  • Work as part of the payroll team to ensure timely management of monthly payroll.
  • Processing maternity leave and illness benefit.
  • Setting up pension deductions, union deductions, cycle to work, travel pass.
  • Retrieving RPN’s/tax credit certificates from ROS (Revenue Online Service)
  • Processing payment of deducted amounts to third parties on a monthly basis.
  • Generation of monthly ad hoc payroll reports.
  • Processing of employee timesheets and approving ESS timesheets.
  • Process weekly payroll run.
  • Prepare and transfer bank file for electronic payment.
  • Submission of PAYE Modernisation file to ROS.
  • Dealing with both staff and departmental queries in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with eternal organisations such as Revenue Commissioners and Department of Social Protection.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors in a professional manner.
  • Keep abreast with changes in payroll legislation.
  • Work closely with staff within the Finance Office.
  • To carry out other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager and the Financial Operations Manager.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience of working in a busy payroll office.
  • An IPASS qualification or equivalent would be desirable.
  • Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the internal controls and checks required in
  • Have detailed knowledge and understanding of the PAYE system and statutory deductions.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload within a team environment and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the application of information technology in payroll and excellent IT skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Be familiar with the pay guidelines in the Irish public sector.
  • An ability to communicate effectively in a clear and precise manner in response to staff payroll queries.
  • Knowledge of CoreHR Payroll software will be an advantage.
