Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Payroll Manager to lead and develop our Payroll function during an exciting period of transformation. Managing a team of six Payroll professionals and working closely with a 3rd-party service provider, you will play a key role in optimising our payroll operations, ensuring full compliance with Revenue regulations and maximising the value of our newly implemented payroll system (Quantum).
This is a strategic and hands-on role, requiring a leader with strong technical expertise, people management skills and a passion for process improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
•Lead, mentor and develop a Payroll Team to ensure high performance, accuracy and ongoing professional growth.
•Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and collaboration.
•Provide clear objectives, training and support to ensure the team adapts successfully to new systems and processes.
Payroll Operations & Compliance
•Oversee the end-to-end processing of payroll for over 2,000 employees across multiple locations.
•Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution in line with contractual, legal and Revenue obligations.
•Maintain full compliance with tax legislation, employment laws and Revenue (ROS) reporting requirements.
•Liaise with internal and external auditors, Revenue and other stakeholders as needed.
System Development & Optimisation
•Take ownership of the ongoing development and optimisation of the newly implemented Quantum Payroll System.
•Act as a business lead for payroll system enhancements, testing and integration with other HR/Finance systems.
•Collaborate with the IT and HR teams to ensure system stability, data integrity and automation of routine tasks.

Reporting & Analytics
•Develop and deliver insightful payroll-related reports and analytics to HR, Finance and Senior Management.
•Leverage data to inform strategic decisions and identify cost-saving or efficiency opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement
•Work closely with HR, Finance, Operations and IT to streamline and optimise end-to-end processes affecting payroll.
•Lead or support cross-functional projects that enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency.
•Identify risks and implement robust controls to safeguard payroll accuracy, confidentiality and compliance.
Key Requirements
Essential
•Proven experience in managing a large-scale payroll operation in Ireland.
•Deep knowledge of PAYE, payroll compliance and Revenue reporting requirements.
•Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
•Demonstrated success in implementing or optimising payroll systems.
•Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret and present data.
•High level of integrity, discretion and attention to detail.
•Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project leadership skills.
•IPASS Qualification (or equivalent) and proficient in Excel.
•Good understanding of Payroll input to management accounts.
Desirable
•Understanding of accounting fundamentals.
•Experience in the healthcare or nursing home sector.
•Experience working with 3rd-party payroll support providers.
•Background in change management or systems transformation projects.
